Now is the time to take action
Have you missed a payment?
We understand that life doesn’t always go as planned. If you’ve already missed a payment you may have already received a call, letter, text or email from us. The most important thing is not to ignore the situation. The best thing you can do is to pay back the missed payments as soon as you can. This will help you get back on track, otherwise things can get worse and your credit rating may be affected which means it may be more difficult for you to get a loan in the future.
Often a good way to do this is to set up a direct debit if you haven’t one already. When you pay by direct debit you know your payments will be made on the same day every month.
If you can’t clear your arrears, you should contact us as soon as possible to find out what can be done.
You are not alone, some of these stories might sound familiar
Everyone’s story is slightly different, and while these aren’t the names of real customers, some stories might ring a bell. If they do, then you should take action as soon as possible. The best way of avoiding a big problem is to tackle it while it is still a manageable problem.
Greg and Susan's Story
Greg and Susan had separated. When they agreed that Greg would move out of the family home they realised their two incomes now had to cover a mortgage and rent as well as two sets of bills. They told us they had separated and both of them sent in a Standard Financial Statement with their documents. Once they did this, we were able to work out an arrangement where they paid off their mortgage over a longer period than they started out with. It was going to take a little while longer to pay off their mortgage, but they avoided going into arrears, which was a relief. If you think you’ll miss a payment, talk to us on 1850 65 43 29.
Killian has a mortgage with us. He was always good with managing money and put it aside for everything he needed. Killian had some success at work and a promotion meant that he had to travel more for work. He knows he will sometimes be away from home on the day the mortgage payment is due. Because he can’t always get to the local branch to pay the mortgage, Killian rang us to set up a direct debit on his account. We sent him a quick form to sign and the direct debit was easily set up for the next month. Now he doesn’t have to worry about getting to the branch on time, it all gets paid automatically and Killian has more freedom to concentrate on his new job.
Sinead had an accident and had to take six months off work. As a result, she missed quite a few mortgage payments on her home. She read up online about the SFS and Mortgage Arrears Resolution Process ‘MARP’ and once she felt more informed she called us. We were sympathetic and booked an appointment to help her fill out the SFS at a time that suited her. After looking at the SFS and her personal circumstances we came to an arrangement which meant a period of reduced monthly payments until she was back to work.
